KLLO INSOMNIA

Melbourne electronica duo Kllo is back with scintillating new track ‘Insomnia’. Reminiscent of the melancholic vibe of last single ‘Still Here’, cousins Chloe Kaul and Simon Lam convey those sleepless nights and unfulfilled day dreams in a forward-thinking RnB-influenced tune. As the familial pair tell us: “The song is about laying in bed fantasizing that you'll give your all to something and that someone else will too, but knowing deep down it will never happen. The moment of the night where you can't switch off and differentiate your truth from your imagination." Moreover, they share that ‘Insomnia’ was “heavily influenced by our time in North America,” and there’s certainly a flavour of Drake or The Weeknd in Lam’s glassine, pulsating production and Kaul’s vocal passivity. Although Kaul and Lam wrote their parts of this track separately, there’s an attuned synchronicity that perhaps only creatives who grew up together could understand. ‘Insomnia’ and ‘Still Here’ will featured on Kllo’s upcoming album, Maybe We Could, which is out on July 17th via Believe (UK) and Ghostly International (US). - Hannah Thacker   [Photo credit: Edward Goldner]
